NC Prez Deuba to give 30 percent ‘share’ to Shekhar-Gagan camp

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has shown flexibility to resolve the dispute within the NC party.

Baluwatar sources claimed that Deuba has agreed to give 30 percent seats to the disgruntled section of the party led by Dr. Shekhar Koirala and General Secretary Gagan Thapa.

The dissident camp has continuously exerted pressure on NC President Deuba demanding a respectable share.

NC President Deuba, who is also the Prime Minister, “agreed to please” the disgruntled camp to avoid possible risks in the November 20 elections.

“He (Deuba) is ready to give at least 30 percent share to Shekhar-Gagan faction in proportional and direct ticket distribution,” the source said.

Leaders and cadres of the disgruntled faction of the party also staged a sit-in at the party central office on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Deuba has also assured to revise the list of the Proportional Representation (PR).

The Koirala-led faction had given an ultimatum till Thursday to revise the closed list.
