NC leaders hold meeting to revise PR candidates’ list

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and top leaders of the party have initiated a discussion to revise the Proportional Representation (PR) list in Baluwatar.

The leaders are holding a discussion at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.

The party is likely to revise some of the names included in the closed list of PR candidates for the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly submitted by the Nepali Congress to the Election Commission.

According to a leader, party President Deuba has agreed to revise the PR list.

The Election Commission has asked the parties to revise the proportional candidate list by October 2.

It should be noted that on Wednesday, leaders and cadres close to NC leader Shekhar Koirala and General Secretary Gagan Thapa staged a sit-in at the party central office in Sanepa accusing party President Deuba of not consulting with them while preparing the PR list.

Among the 110 names in the PR list for the House of Representatives, only 14 names have been included from the Koirala camp.
