Dr. KC breaks his fast after signing 10-point deal with govt
The government and Dr. Govinda KC, who had been staging a fast-unto-death for nearly two weeks, have signed 10-point agreement.
After signing the agreement, Dr. KC has broken his fast on the 13th day of his strike.
Dr. KC broke his fast by by drinking juice from the hand of another patient Sarita Chaudhary, who had been admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, on Saturday.
Even though he has abandoned his hunger strike, Dr. KC will remain at the hospital for the next few days for treatment and recovery.
Dengue claims 29 lives so far in Nepal
The number of deaths due to dengue infection has reached 29 in the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, dengue has spread in 76 districts and 22,988 people have contracted dengue so far.
The first dengue patient was identified first in Nepal in 2004. Since then, dengue has been increasing every year and has morphed as an epidemic this year.
Himalayan Goats being brought to Kathmandu from Darchula for Dashain
Around 500 Chyangra, the Himalayan goats, will be brought to Kathmandu from Darchula district in view of upcoming Dashain festival.
It is the first time the Himalayan goats are being brought to the capital from Darchula.
Food Management and Trading Company is bringing in the Chyangra from Darchula reasoning the excessive cost of transportation from Mustang district.
Market monitoring intensified
The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has intensified market monitoring in the wake of approaching festivals. The Department monitored 272 firms last week.
A team of inspectors mobilized by the Department fined Rs 200,000 to a department store at Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur on Wednesday. The Department fined the department store after the store changed the standards, price and weights of the goods by violating the rules.
Similarly, the team on Thursday fined Rs 200,000 to a grocery located at Imadol of Lalitpur reasoning that the shop was found cheating consumers.
A total of 844 firms were monitored since July 17, among which, 175 firms were fined.
Coalition govt preparing to rig Nov 20 elections: UML Chair Oli
CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the incumbent coalition government of preparing to rig the November 20 elections.
Addressing a party induction program held at Tinkauriya Chowk in Bideha Municipality of Dhanusha on Saturday, he charged that the government was transferring police personnel and civil servants not supporting the ruling coalition.
“The government is preparing to deceive everywhere. If the coalition government perceives that any policeman or government employee will not support it, they will be transferred. Policemen from this muncipality have also been transferred. Employees have been transferred,” Oli said.
“If the coalition thinks that somebody is not subservient to them, then they are being transferred.”
He added, “This is an undemocratic, dictatorial, arbitrary and corrupt government.”
12 JSP cadres held for waving black flag at UML Chair KP Oli in Janakpur
As many as 12 cadres of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) have been arrested for waving black flags at CPN UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.
JSP cadres had waved black flags to the UML chair in Janakpur on Saturday.
Oli reached Janakpur today to welcome some leaders of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) into the UML.
New type of people’s war is necessary for socialism: Prachanda
CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that a new type of people’s war is necessary to establish socialism in the country.
Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, the Maoist Center Chair said that the old type of people’s war is no longer possible and a new type of people’s war is necessary for the introduction and constructive development of socialism.
“The traditional people’s war is not possible now. For socialism, a new type of people’s war is necessary,” Prachanda said, adding, “We have to discover a new model of socialism for the 21st century.”
Nepal sees 74 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 74 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.
Of the confirmed cases, 29 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 45 through the Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 4,126 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
Of them, 1,234 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 2,892 through the Antigen method.
One coronavirus related death was recorded in the past 24 hours, and the COVID-19 death toll stands at 12,017 to date.
