CHITWAN: Minister for Forests and Environment Pradeep Yadav has pointed out the important role of communities in wildlife conservation.
The Minister sought support from the communities to identify challenges in the conservation of forests and wildlife.
Ruling out human encroachment upon the forests, the Minister said, “You (general people) should conserve wildlife and the government protects you.”
For the livelihood of people, the Ministry would launch various programs, he said.
Stating that the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 2029 has created problems, he assured of amendment of Act as per need.
The government has continued efforts to reduce human and wildlife conflicts through various means like setting up new equipment to stop wild animals from entering human settlements.
“To prevent wild animals from stalking in the human settlements, the equipment successfully used in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh in India will be used in Nepal as well,” Minister Yadav shared.
For the project, the government has set aside Rs 20 million, according to him.
Efforts were on to consult experts regarding the impacts of climate change, he said, “Nepal has almost reached the point wherein announcement of ‘climate emergency’ was due. We will however take a decision on it based on experts’ suggestions”.
The CNP will observe its 50th Establishment Day throughout the year this year amid various programs, it has been said.
