NA chopper reaching Dhangadi to bring Dr KC to Kathmandu returned empty



KATHMANDU: A Nepali Army (NA) helicopter, which had reached Dhanghadi on Tuesday to bring agitating Dr. Govinda KC to Kathmandu for treatment, returned without carrying the doctor.

After Dr KC, who has been staging a hunger strike for nine days in Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadi, refused to come to Kathmandu, the NA helicopter had returned empty.

Earlier, the hospital administration had made preparations to send Dr. KC to Kathmandu citing his worsening health condition and summoned a NA chopper.

Kailali Assistant Chief District Officer Yagya Raj Joshi said after KC took urged not to take him to Kathmandu for treatment, the helicopter returned empty. The agitating doctor argued that his condition was not that severe.

Dr KC has taken of stance of not returning to Kathmandu until his demands are met.

The doctors of Seti Provincial Hospital involved in agitating doctor’s treatment said the senior orthopedic surgeon had developed symptoms of severe ulcer in his stomach.

Dr KC is being treated in the ICU of Seti Provincial Hospital as his health is worsening due to the hunger strike.
