Govt recommends to prorogue parliament with effect from Saturday midnight



KATHMANDU: The government has recommended the President to prorogue the 11th session of the parliament from Saturday midnight.

Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha said the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, on Friday (today) recommended the President to prorogue the current session of parliament.

The political parties are scheduled to submit the closed list of candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system to the Election Commission on September 18 and 19.

As per law, the term of the current parliament shall last until the day before the submission of the closed list of candidates under the PR system.

The election of the House of Representatives is slated for November 20.
