China hopeful about positive outcome from U.S-China talks

BEIJING: China’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday that dealings between China and the United States in the last four decades have shown a positive outcome.

Speaking at a news briefing, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang positive outcomes have always been possible with the United States. “It was, therefore, important to find a solution which is acceptable to both the countries,” Lu said.

Presidents of both countries are likely to meet and discuss trade talks at a G20 meeting to be held in Japan later this month.

U.S. President Donald Trump has on Tuesday said he would meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at the summit in Osaka. China has confirmed the meeting.

Lu, however, did not give an exact agenda for the meeting. (Agencies)
