Immigration Department blacklists rape-accused cricketer Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Suspended Nepali national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl, has been blacklisted by the Department of Immigration.

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Security Office said Lamichhane has been blacklisted and would be arrested as soon as he arrives in Nepal.

The District Court, Kathmandu, had given permission to arrest Lamichhane on September 8 after a complaint was filed against him at Police Circle Gaushala.

Lamichhane is currently out of the country and has said he would return to face the charges.

According to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Lamichhane, denying the accusations, requested for legal assistance of CAN.
