KMC writes to NA and Nepal Police, asking them to pay taxes

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has written to the Nepali Army (NA) and Nepal Police to submit rent taxes.

A letter was dispatched to the NA and Nepal Police asking them to visit respective ward offices to pay rent taxes within 10 days of the receipt of the document.

“As it appears that the revenue has been generated by renting out space, it is requested to submit the tax to the relevant ward office of Kathmandu Metropolitan City,” the letter read.

“After repeated requests fell on deaf ears, the security organizations have been asked to pay the taxes along with the penalty within 10 days of receipt of the letter,” it added.

It is also mentioned that if the taxes are not paid even during the given period, action will be taken according to the Municipal Revenue Act, 2075, and the process will be carried out to collect the government arrears.

After being elected as the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah has intensified the campaign to collect revenue and demolish illegal structures.

Earlier, Mayor Shah also wrote to the Nepal Electricity Authority, asking it to pay the tax.
