Economy on right track: NRB Governor Adhikari

Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari claimed that country’s economy was pursuing the right path and it was indicated by recent progress in include labor market, remittance flow and increment of inflow of foreign currency.

Stating that Nepal did not remain aloof of recent impacts of global inflation, he said the government’s restriction on the issuance of the Letter of Credit as well as the import of goods had eased the external economic sector.

He was addressing the 24th annual general assembly of the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON).

Unity among parties with honest leftist ideology: Chair Nepal

Chairperson of the CPN Unified Socialist, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said talks are underway regarding unity among all the parties carrying honest leftist ideology in the country.

Talking to media persons at Birtatnagar airport on Saturday, Chairperson Nepal stressed that all the parties of the country carrying honest leftist ideology could be united.

He expressed the view that seats would be allocated on the basis of seats won by the candidates of alliance parties in the past.

Four Nepalis killed in road mishap in India

Four Nepalis died and 14 others were injured in road accident at Barabanki of Uttar Pradesh in India on Saturday morning.

The accident took place when a truck hit the bus (UP 32 PT 3944) heading towards Goa from Rupaidiha, Indian bordering market.

According to Indian Police, the truck hit the double-decker bus at a time when the bus was parked to change the tyre after it got punctured near Barbanki.

The deceased have been identified as Prem Tharu and Sheetal Tharu of Binauna village of Raptisonari Rural Municipality in Banke, and Chakra Bahadur Oli of Belatapur of Dang.

However, identify of the remaining one has not been ascertained yet.

President Bhandari pays tribute to Kaji Tularam Pande

President Bidya Devi Bhandari offered tributes to Kaji Tularam Pande, attending an event in Kathmandu on Saturday.

In the 254th memorial program of Kaji Tularam Pande organized by Kaji Kalu Pandey Kaji Tularam Pandey Memorial Trust, President Bhandari garlanded the picture of Kaji Tula Ram Pande.

Pande is the younger brother of Commander Kaji Kalu Pande. He had died on the premises of Tulaja Bhawani (popularly known as Taleju Bhawani) Temple at Basantapur in Kathmandu on Ashoj 14 in 1825 BS.

TU suspends equivalence of four Indian universities

Tribhuvan University (TU) has suspended equivalence for students who have obtained higher education from some universities in India.

TU has deferred granting equivalency to students with higher education from Singhania University and  Mewar University in Rajasthan, Sainath University, Jharkhand and Lovely Professional University, Punjab.

Nepal sees 200 new coronavirus cases, two deaths in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 200 new cases of coronavirus and two deaths in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.

Of the confirmed cases, 92 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 108 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 3,537 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 1,381 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 2,156 through the Antigen method.
