Fugitive escaping from TIA on Friday morning arrested



KATHMANDU: A fugitive, who escaped by using the VIP Lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), has been arrested on Friday night.

Rizwan Alam of Sunsari, who is on the absconding list of the police on fraud charges, arrived in Nepal on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Muslim Commission Samim Miya Ansari aided him to escape from TIA by facilitating use of airport’s VIP room and personal car.

Alam, who escaped while the police were preparing to arrest him from the airport in the morning, was arrested by the team of the Valley Crime Investigation Office from Marriott Hotel on Friday night.

Alam, who came from Dubai, had even left his passport at the airport and escaped.

A complaint was registered against him on the charge of fraud of Rs 10.68 million.

District Court Kathmandu had also issued an arrest warrant against him on the same offence.
