KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that if the Nepali Congress, the largest force of the ruling coalition, does not agree to a just seat allocation among parties, another leftist coalition, barring CPN-UML, would be formed .

Prachanda’s remark comes at a time when NC’s Shekhar Koirala faction is trying to limit coalition partners to 65 seats in the House of Representatives in the elections slated for November 20.

“If coalition partners cannot be given more than 65 seats in the House of Representatives, in such situation, a coalition of left-wing parties will be formed,” he said.

Addressing a joint meeting of central members and Bagmati provincial office bearers of the party in Sanepa on Sunday, Prachanda said that the alliance would be kept intact in the upcoming elections to the extent possible.

The Maoist Center chair believed that his party would emerge as the strongest leftist force in the November 20 elections.

Central member Anil Sharma said Prachanda needed to ponder the alternatives amidst various ideas coming within the NC at this time.

However, Prachanda also stressed on keeping the coalition intact.

He also called for agitation for directly elected executive president and fully proportional representation electoral system for parliament after the election on November 20.
