CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ asserted that he was struggling to ensure development and prosperity in the country and was working towards protecting the system.
Speaking to the party leaders, cadres and the public of his constituency at Madi in Chitwan, where he was engaged in a host of events such as inaugural of project, laying foundation stone, and monitoring projects, the Maoist Center chair claimed that his only aim in politics is to make the country take a leap in development sector and ensure justice and prosperity to all.
Oli-Deuba meet: UML Chairman Oli raises four “key” issues
In what has been said as a “serious meeting” with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli raised four major issues raising concern over the government’s failure to consult with the main opposition while announcing the election date.
UML Chairman Oli reached Prime Minister’s official residence Wednesday morning and held talks with PM Deuba on “key issues”.
NEPSE rises by 2.87 points on Wednesday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has seen modest single-digit gains of 2.87 points on Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the week.
The stock market index NEPSE increased by 0.14 percent and closed at 2057.85 points.
Although there was a general improvement in NEPSE, there was not much excitement in the transaction amount.
Bank deposit still not up despite increased interest rate
Even after the increase in the interest rate, the deposit collection of commercial banks has not increased, the CD ratio has started to reach above 90 percent again.
According to the data of Nepal Bankers Association, the CD ratio of three banks has reached over 90 percent in Shrawan (July 17- August 16) itself.
Nepal sees 487 new coronavirus cases, one death in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 487 new cases of coronavirus and one death in the past 24 hours as of Wednesday.
Of the confirmed cases, 242 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 245 through the Antigen method.
Three-tier government collaborative role necessary to combat crime: Home Minister Khand
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has sought the collaborative role of the three-tier government to curb the criminal activities in the country.
While inaugurating the ‘Valley Crime Investigation Review Meeting’ jointly organized by the Crime Investigation Bureau, Nepal Police Headquarters and the Kathmandu Valley Police Office here today, the Home Minister said sometimes obstacles might occur in the implementation of measures to combat crime and such possibility should be kept in mind while going into action.

HoR Committee concerns over issues hampering Jayanagar-Bardibas railway project
The Development and Technology Committee, House of Representatives (HoR) has expressed its concern over the implementation of a 35-kilomtre long broad gauge railway from Kurtha of Dhanusha to Bardibas of Mahottari.
The project is part of the Jayanagar (India)-Bardibas railway service which has been partially operational since last April.
