Nov 20 polls: Deadline for party registration at EC ends today



KATHMANDU: The timeframe allowed by the Election Commission (EC) to register political parties for the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly is ending today.

EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel informed that 62 parties have submitted applications till Monday.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress, the ruling party, is registering the party today.

Another ruling partner, Maoist Center registered the party on Monday itself.

Similarly, the main opposition CPN-UML has already registered with the EC.

The government has decided to hold the election of members of the House of Representatives and the State Assembly in one phase on November 20.

The EEC started registering parties for the elections on August 7.

Issuing a notice, the EC called upon political parties, contesting the elections, for registration by August 16.
