Himalayan Bank and American Express launch two new Cards in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Himalayan Bank and American Express launched two new Cards -Himalayan Bank American Express® Credit Card and Himalayan Bank Prepaid American Express® Card in Nepal, catering both, to outbound travelers and local customers.

Himalayan Bank American Express® Credit Card is targeted at shoppers and travelers offering local and global benefits, a statement issued by the bank said, Wednesday.

Himalayan Bank American Express® Prepaid Card is best suited for international students and travelers and is loaded with lucrative benefits and offers while providing a convenient way to budget their international expenses, it said.

Ashoke SJB Rana, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Himalayan Bank Limited said, “American Express has been our long-standing partner and we are happy to take this relationship forward with the launch of two new products targeted at different set of customers.”

These cards will benefit both our local customers within Nepal, as well as those travelling to any other country rewarding them with every transaction, he said.

Divya Jain, Vice President & Business Head, Network Partnerships, South Asia, American Express added, “We are excited to bring two new American Express Cards with Himalayan Bank to the Nepal market.”

Both the Cards will enhance the consumers’ overall travel and shopping experience by offering greater benefits and cashback that our products are known for, he said.

The launch timing coincides with the ongoing reopening of global travel and the upcoming festive season, allowing Card Members to leverage these benefits fully.

International students also tend to move to other locations during this time and thereafter, starting November, according to Jain.

Himalayan Bank American Express® Credit Card offers 0.5% cashback on all local transactions, including online, in Nepal and maximum cashback of NPR 3000 per annum. Himalayan Bank American Express® Prepaid Card targeting international travelers and students offers 0.5% cashback on all local transactions, including online, in Nepal with maximum cashback of NPR 2400 per annum, the bank stated.
