President should not have delayed to authenticate Citizenship Bill, Prachanda says

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that President Bidya Devi Bhandari should not have delayed in authenticating the Citizenship Bill endorsed by the Federal Parliament.

Responding to a journalist’s query about the Citizenship Bill, Prachanda hoped that President Bhandari will not block the Bill upon his arrival from Japan on Wednesday afternoon.

“I said it in an interaction with journalists yesterday in Japan as well. There should have been no delay in certifying the bill from the President,” he said.

The Citizenship Bill passed by both Parliaments has reached the President’s office for validation.

Prachanda, who flew to Japan last Friday night, arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon.

Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Prachanda said that his visit would help to strengthen the relationship between Nepal and Japan.
