Nov 20 elections: NC holding internal discussion on seat allocation

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) office bearers are holding a meeting at the party central office in Sanepa to discuss the distribution of seats in the province and House of Representatives elections in the November 20 elections.

Today’s meeting will then present their views at a meeting of NC office bearers to be held on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the five-party task force formed to discuss and allocate seats to the coalition partners is being held on Thursday.

On Monday, NC office bearers held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar on the issue.

The meeting decided to hold a 22-day election campaign and a two-day orientation program for public representatives.

The issue of seat allocation in the NC party has become complicated.

NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is under pressure from his party leaders as well as from the ruling partners when it comes to the allocation of seats in the HoR and Province Assembly elections.

NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula has been appointed as the coordinator of the task force on seat allocation.
