KU to begin Masters in Media Studies

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu University (KU) has launched Masters in Media Studies Program from this academic year.

The KU would run the Masters in Media Studies from the Department of Languages and Mass Communication of the School of Arts.

Head of Department of Languages and Mass Communication Dr Sudhamshu Dahal said admission is opened for the Masters in Media Studies that would cover media entrepreneurship, management and media related dimensions.

A total of 20 students would be enrolled for this program and issues of culture, film and technology would also be taught in this program, it is said.

Associate Professor of KU Dr Nirmal Mani Adhikari said one-fourth of the course would be based on research projects besides theoretical knowledge and technical skills.

The total cost of the program is estimated around Rs 400,000 and 20 per cent of the total students would get scholarship, Dr Dahal shared.

The KU has been running Bachelor in Media Studies program since 2006.
