Finance Minister Sharma sworn in
President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly-appointed Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma amid a special function at the Office of the President.
Minister Sharma took oath as per Article 80 of the Constitution of Nepal.
President appoints ambassador to Brazil
President Bidya Devi Bhandari today, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, appointed Nirmal Raj Kafle as the resident ambassador to the Federal Republic of Brazil.
According to the press statement issued by the Office of the President, the appointment was made in accordance with the Article 282 (1) of the Constitution.
Mayors of metropolitan cities call for separate law to govern local governments
Mayors of all six metropolitan cities, who met in Pokhara on Saturday, have demanded a separate law to govern their governments be formed, keeping in mind the population and geography of local levels.
Mayors of all six metropolitan cities in Nepal have sought a more dedicated act for effective governance.
NC leader Rana Deuba returns home from New Delhi
Nepali Congress Central Committee member Arzu Rana Deuba returned home from New Delhi on Sunday.
Rana Deuba, who was in New Delhi for health treatment, returned home today.
Nepali Ambassador to India Dr. Shankar Sharma wished her a safe journey through Twitter.
Rana Deuba had undergone a successful surgery in New Delhi last week.
Rana Deuba had been in Delhi, India for past two weeks for treatment.
Nepal sees 620 new coronavirus cases
Nepal recorded a total of 620 new cases of coronavirus and one death in the past 24 hours as of Sunday.
Out of the confirmed cases, 496 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 124 through the Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 5,846 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
Of them, 2,651 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 3,195 through the Antigen method.
NEPSE gains 54.58 points on Sunday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NESPE) index gained 54.58 points to close at 2,195.10 points on Sunday.
Similarly, the sensitive index rose 9.72 points to close at 419.20 points.
The index had gained 13.05 points last Friday.
A total of 11,339,476 unit shares of 220 companies were traded for Rs 4.6 billion today.
Likewise, all the sub-indices were green except for Finance.
