Amendment to Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University Bill approved



KATHMANDU: A session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today (Tuesday) unanimously approved the amendment to the Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University Bill, 2076 BS received from the National Assembly.

The agenda of approving the amendment to this bill had to be postponed for today after it could not be presented in the lower house meeting on Monday due to lack of quorum.

This bill was endorsed by the House of Representatives on July 4 and sent to the National Assembly for its consideration. Following deliberations, the National Assembly had sent back the bill to HoR.

The bill will now be forwarded for the authentication process.

Yogmaya Ayurveda University Bill-2079 BS also endorsed

The Yogmaya Ayurveda University Bill-2079 BS has also been endorsed in today’s HoR meeting.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel presented the proposal seeking clause-wise deliberation on the Bill in the parliamentary Education and Health Committee and was unanimously endorsed.

Minister Paudel, clarifying on the issues raised in the discussion, said that the University would be established in the name of Yogmaya, pioneer crusader of the Nepali Women’s Liberation Movement in Arun Valley.

According to him, the University aims to produce skilled human resources in Ayurveda, Yoga medicine and research on herbal plants. He added that the University will enroll foreign students as well to research on Ayurvedic discipline.

The Bill comes into effect from 31 days of authentication.

The next meeting of HoR is slated for coming Friday on July 29 at 11:00 am.
