POKHARA: Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhan Raj Acharya has been named as a member of a thematic committee under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Mayor Acharya was named as a member of the thematic committee for the local level as per the Clause 22 (1) of the Federal, Province and Local Levels (Coordination and Interrelations) Act, 2077.
Acharya was picked from the minister-level decision beginning July 17 from among 753 local levels across the country.
Ministers for Tourism from all seven provinces shall be the members in the thematic committee chaired by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of the federal government.
After his appointment, Mayor Acharya has described this move as a part of ownership of tourist city Pokhara and the citizens of Pokhara from the federal government and added that Pokhara would be declared a tourist capital soon.
