PM Deuba to inaugurate NPU ninth General Convention in Hetauda on Friday



HETAUDA: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will be arriving here tomorrow, Friday, to inaugurate the ninth National General Convention of Nepal Press Union (NPU).

According to the source, Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Deuba will arrive here in between 9:00-9:30 am to inaugurate the national gathering of journalists of democratic stream, said NPU officiating general secretary Bhishma Raj Ojha.

The NPU will be holding its general convention at Royal Party Palace, Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati province on July 22-23.

It will also be electing a 141-member central committee. NC vice presidents Dhanaraj Gurung and Purna Bahadur Khadka and general secretaries Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa will also be here on the occasion.

According to general convention’s local coordination committee joint-coordinator Girija Prasad Adhikari, hotels at Hetauda, Makwanpurgadhi, Amlekhgunj and Sarauha have been booked for visitors and a food stall is to be managed near the event venue.

Adhikari further said over 1,600 people including press union representatives and observers s are expected to join the event.

Earlier, the Union had formed the local coordination committee headed by its member and Bagmati Province coordinator Rammani Dahal.

Rupesh Dulal has the role of a coordinator for residential management, Sujan Bidari for food management, Posta Raj Adhikari for secretariat management and Keshab Samarpan for public affairs.

A main organising committee has been formed under the coordination of Union central president Badri Sigdel.

Meanwhile, Makwanpur’s Chief District Officer Rajendra Dev Pandey said all security arrangements are in place in view of the Prime Minister’s visit to the district.

An alternative traffic route has been managed in the local markets during the visit of the head of the government.
