NC President Deuba in hot water

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister (PM) Sher Bahadur Deuba continued to face pressure from his party leaders for his alleged failure to deliver as the country’s Prime Minister.

Voices of dissent have gradually started to increase against Prime Minister Deuba. This was evident during the prolonged meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee held at the party office, Sanepa over the last week.

Party General Secretaries, including Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma, expressed their displeasure about the working style of NC President Deuba and for isolating the discontented faction in running the party.

NC leaders and cadres had hoped that the party leadership would improve as the CWC comprises young and enthusiastic leaders.

Likewise, central members have challenged the party leadership by putting a question mark over its working style.

Thapa and Sharma warned Deuba to improve his working style and the way the government is run.

They also accused Deuba of following the path of the then KP Oli government.

“If this continues, Nepali Congress will not have any agenda to ask for votes in the upcoming federal parliament elections,” Thapa said.

In particular, they asked the party leaders to include even the disgruntled camp within the party while making decisions in the party’s sister organizations.

They demanded that the party’s important decisions should be discussed with them as they are elected general secretaries.

NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung alleged party President Deuba for “bypassing” the Dr. Shekhar Koirala-led camp.

Gurung said, “The party can’t function in such a condition.”
