KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has urged the government to take necessary steps to control cholera, accusing the government of not paying attention to control it.
At a news conference organized by the Health and Population Department of the CPN (UML), Department Chief Yogesh Bhattarai blamed the government of not taking any step to control cholera even though cholera was confirmed on 29 people in the Kathmandu Valley.
“The Ministry of Health and Population did not take any steps to make arrangement of treatment in order to control cholera as well as to launch awareness. Showing negligence in controlling pandemic is a serious weakness in view of public health”, he shared.
Similarly, the UML urged the government to provide risk allowance to the human resources deputed in the frontline during COVID-19, including health workers and security personnel.
Bhattarai added, “The government has made those working during risk period disappointed. Many health workers who tested positive for COVID-19 have not yet got insurance amount.”
He also requested the government to ensure quality medical education in the country, asking it to forward effective plan in order to engage the human resources of health sector for country’s prosperity.
The CPN (UML) also urged the government to create environment for the production of medicines in the country as billions of rupees is sent abroad in course of importing medicines every year.
