KATHMANDU: Former Province chief of Madhesh Pradesh, Rajesh Jha ‘Ahiraj’ has handed over a 13-point memorandum to President Bidyadevi Bhandari.
In the letter, he has raised the issue of farmers who have been affected due to the lack of fertilizers.
Likewise, he has also urged the President to pressurize the government on the promotion of tourism in the Far West, the problem of mistreatment of Nepalis at the border, the Mahakali Treaty, and displacement of Shuklaphanta reserve, the problem of exploitation of Mahakali and forced migration to India for employment.
Similarly, he has also demanded to take initiative in tourism promotion, apple cultivation, and production of herbs in Karnali.
The government has been asked to take the initiative to solve the problem of flood and inundation in the Terai.
As there is a need for a special ‘study committee’ for the citizens of the border areas, the President’s attention has been drawn to take initiative in this regard.
Ahiraj has drawn the attention of the President to the possibility of another big uprising in the future if the distance between Madhesis and non-Madhesis is not narrowed down.
