UML stands firm demanding Finance Minister Sharma’s resignation

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded the immediate resignation or ouster of controversial Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.

UML chief whip Bishal Bhattarai said that even though the ruling party was ready to form a parliamentary committee to investigate Sharma, Finance Minister Sharma must step down.

“They are ready to form a committee of inquiry, but our condition is his dismissal and a parliamentary inquiry,” Bhattarai said.

Earlier this morning, the Maoist Center had decided to hold talks with the main opposition UML on the issue.

Meanwhile, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has demanded the names of members from the parties for the parliamentary committee to be formed to investigate the alleged involvement in raising tax on Finance Minister Sharma.
