KATHMANDU: Out of the 56 gates of Saptakoshi barrage, 24 gates are opened in view of the surging water level in the Koshi river.

The incessant rain has swelled the Koshi and its tributaries putting many places on the verge of inundation.

According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, the flow of water in Saptakoshi reached 178,595 cusecs as per the measurements on Wednesday evening.

The administration has urged the locals of the coastal area to remain safe as the flow of water has increased.
