Rahuganga rural municipality highly vulnerable to landslides



MYAGDI: Human settlements in the rural municipality of Myagdi are at risk due to 216 landslides.

There are 216 landslides in eight wards of Raghuganga rural municipality of Myagdi and the settlements are at risk due to those landslides.

Chairperson of Raghuganga Rural Municipality Bhab Bahadur Bhandari said that the DPR of the landslide has been sent to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority for landslide prevention and control.

Landslide prevention of Kuinemangale-8 Chaurkhani, Chimkhola-7 Malang, Pakhapani-6 Raikhor and Dagnam-4 has been given top priority.

Similarly, Raghughat, Galeshwar, Tilkeni, Kuine, Chaurkhani, Dhupichaur, Arkala, Beg, Dulepani, Satipokhari, Khauret, Rotepani, Risinchautari, Budichaur and other settlements are at high risk of floods and landslides.

Deepak Karki, a local, said that more than a dozen settlements are at high risk of floods and landslides due to the tendency of the local authorities to give only assurances but not work.
