Nepal’s eastern transits with India sealed for Gorkhaland election



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s eastern transits with West Bengal state of India have been sealed off for 72 hours beginning Friday morning targeting the coming Gorkhaland Territorial Administration election there.

Following correspondences by the Indian side, the transits with India in Pashupatinagar in Ilam district and Kakadvitta and Bhadrapur in Jhapa have been closed for this cause, said Chief District Officer, Jhapa, Chhabi Lal Rijal.

The transits that were sealed at 6 am today will be open at 6 am on coming Monday, he said.

Those requiring to cross the border can have a passage through coordination with security officials of both the countries, he said.
