Document purporting to be a military deal between United States and Nepal is fake: US Embassy  

The United States Embasys in Kathmandu has said that the document published by some online outlets purporting to be a military deal between the United States and Nepal is fake.

“By policy, the United States does not ask countries to join the State Partnership Program and only responds to requests for consideration,” the Embassy has said.

UML seeks Finance Ministry’s CCTV footage of May 29 midnight and parliamentary inquiry into FinMin Sharma

The main opposition party CPN-UML has sought the CCTV footage of the Finance Ministry of May 29 midnight, a day before the budget was made public, and a parliamentary inquiry into the Finance Minister.

The UML demanded the CCTV footage and parliamentary probe after it was reported that Finance Minister Janardan Sharma had allowed the entry of two unauthorized persons into the Finance Ministry to alter the tax rate at the eleventh hour.

Govt to provide pension to farmers from upcoming fiscal: Agriculture Minister Yadav

The government has decided to implement pension scheme to farmers from upcoming fiscal year.

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mahindra Raya Yadav said pension would be provided to farmers from the coming fiscal year.

Reponding to a query during ministry-related discussion on the Appropriation Bill, Minister Yadav said farmers would start receiving pension from next fiscal.

CPN-UML demands FinMin Sharma’s resignation

The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded the resignation of Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.

Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, UML Vice-Chairman and former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey said, “Is the Finance Minister capable of holding the post after raising such a serious issue?”

He further said, “Tax is a very confidential matter, it is a matter of national security and national interest.” Disclosure of such secrets is considered a serious crime.”

USARPAC General Flynn terms Nepal visit ‘terrific’

U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) General Charles A. Flynn has termed his four-day Nepal visit as terrific.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, General Flynn thanked Nepali Army (NA) Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhuram Sharma for a terrific visit this week to Nepal.

He also posted a collage of pictures taken during his visit.

“We cherish our decades long defense partnership & look forward to future opportunities for collaboration,” he tweeted.

NEPSE declines by 36.07 points Tuesday

The downward trend of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued even on Tuesday. NEPSE declined by 36.07 points to 1996.26 today.

The share market turnover got confined to Rs. 1.18 billion. A total of 41,47,255 shares of 232 companies were traded through 31,806 transactions on this day.

Banks give continuity to previous month’s interest rates for Ashad

Commercial banks have given continuity to Jestha’s interest rates for Ashad (mid-June to mid-July 2022).

Ashad is the last month of the running fiscal year 2078/79 BS (2021/22 AD).

The interest rates published by the banks for Ashad (mid-June to mid-July) showed continuity to the previous month’s interest rates.

281 arrested on charges of tax fraud and foreign exchange irregularities

The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has registered 113 cases against 281 persons on the charge of tax fraud and foreign exchange irregularities recorded in the last eight months of the current fiscal year 2021/22.

The department informed that cases have been registered against the defaulters claiming a fine of Rs 1.7 billion.

Under the revenue leakage, a total of 69 cases have been registered against 203 persons claiming Rs 20.6 billion in fine. Among them, seven were civil service employees.
