CPN-UML demands FinMin Sharma’s resignation

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded the resignation of Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.

Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, UML Vice-Chairman and former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey said, “Is the Finance Minister capable of holding the post after raising such a serious issue?”

He further said, “Tax is a very confidential matter, it is a matter of national security and national interest.” Disclosure of such secrets is considered a serious crime.”

It is not morally appropriate for the finance minister to remain in the post of finance minister even after being accused of manipulating the tax rate violating the existing rules before the budget was presented in the parliament, said Pandey.

Pandey has also drawn the attention of the Prime Minister in this regard. ‘Shouldn’t the Prime Minister be held accountable for such a serious question?, ‘he questioned.

Responding to leader Pandey’s comments, Speaker Agni Sapkota said that his attention has been drawn to the issue.
