Labor Minister says process underway to sign deal with UK to send 10,000 Nepali nurses for employment



KATHMANDU: The government has started the process of sending 10,000 Nepali nurses to the United Kingdom for employment with a monthly salary of around Rs 400,000.

Responding to questions raised on the budget’s ministry-wise spending on Monday, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha said preparations was underway to sign an agreement to send 10,000 Nepali nurses to the UK.

Minister Shrestha added that initiatives were also being taken to send Nepali workers to Japan, Korea, New Zealand and other countries for employment.

Lawmakers suggested the Minister to ensure minimum wage for workers, focus on job creation, manage self-employment and protection of migrants abroad, among others.

Minister Shrestha said that he was committed to move forward as per every question and suggestion raised by the lawmakers.
