Monsoon gradually spreading across country



KATHMANDU: This year’s monsoon system is gradually spreading across the country.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon system has entered four provinces so far — Province 1, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki.

The monsoon is expected to enter the rest of the provinces in a few days. This year’s monsoon had entered the eastern part of Nepal before the average date.

The average date of onset of monsoon in Nepal is June 13.

The monsoon enters from the eastern part of the country and gradually extends to the west. The four-month period from June to September is called the monsoon period in the South Asia region.

According to weather forecast for today, the weather will be generally clear in the hilly areas of the country in the afternoon including Province 1, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in a few places in Province 1, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki and light rain with thunder and lightning in one or two places in hilly areas of other provinces.
