SAFGR Cup Golf 2022: Simkhada, Nathan and Bhattarai win trophy



KATHMANDU: Shyam Simkhada (handicap 0-9 category), Joesph Nathan (handicap 10-18 Category) and Sumed Bhattarai (Handicap 19-28 Category) won the title of SAFGR Cup Golf 2022 at Gokarna Golf Club in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Simkhada accumulated 37 points, Nathan carded 39 points (highest in the tournament) and Bhattarai got 30 points.

Rabindra Tiwari won the title of best gross with 33 gross points.

Norzin Shrestha and Aarti Rana were tied in ladies section with 28 points, on the count back Shrestha was declared winner and Rana finished second.

Dr. Karan Singh was winner among senior golfers (age 60 & above) and Honorary Consul of Mongolia TG Shrestha was super senior winner age 70 & above.

Norzin Shrestha bagged the closest to the pin award and Shyam Simkhada took the longest drive.

The tournament organized by South Asian Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians (SAFGR) had 22 golfers from India, total of 62 players took part in the tournament, which was played on a stableford format with 3/4 handicap.

SAFGR President Purna Man Shakya, President of Rotary Club of Himalayan Golfers Bhairaja Panday, Nepal Golf Association President Tashi Ghale, Captain of Gokarna Golf Club Joseph Nathan and Former President of SAFGR Pradep Kumar Shrestha among others gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament
