Nepal starts selling additional 140MW electricity to India

KATHMANDU: Nepal has started selling an additional 140MW of electricity generated by Kaligandaki A Hydropower Project to India.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) started selling additional electricity to India as Nepal started to generate surplus energy during this season.

The continuous rainfall in the country has increased the water levels in the rivers leading the power plants to generate more electricity.

It may be noted that India has allowed the NEA to sell 364 MW of electricity in India’s open markets.

According to NEA officials, it will be selling a total of 177.7MW electricity to India after the addition of the energy generated from the Kali Gandaki Hydropower Projects.
