KATHMANDU: Deliberations on the budget presented by the government in the parliament on May 29 are starting in the House of Representatives from today.

Lawmakers will begin deliberations on the budget for the coming Fiscal Year 2079/080 presented by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma in the House meeting.

Finance Minister Sharma will present a proposal to start general discussions on the annual revenue and expenditure estimates for the fiscal year 2079/080 at 11 am.

The main opposition CPN-UML has already commented that the government has brought the budget to intentionally seek votes in the upcoming federal election.

A meeting of UML parliamentary party held at the Parliament House in New Baneshwor on Monday concluded that the five-month term government has brought the budget to just seek votes in upcoming elections, concluding that the budget is purely election-oriented and vote-seeking.

Meanwhile, the government has defended the budget.
