KATHMANDU: Newly elected Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balen Sah has reached Okharpauwa in Nuwakot, the site where waste of the metropolis is dumped, to get information about waste management.

Mayor Balen reached Okharpauwa in Nuwakot on Friday — the same day his victory was announced.

He took stock of the dumping site in ​​Okharpauwa and interacted with the locals.

Kathmandu metropolis faces a severe problem of waste management. At times, garbage is not collected for considerable period of time in the metropolis. The result of which contributes to foul smell and potential health hazards.

During the local level elections, most of the candidates had expressed their commitment to manage waste problem of the metropolis if elected.

Mayor Shah also had prioritized waste management as part of commitments.
