35,034 representatives elected across country

So far, 35,034 people’s representatives have been elected in the local level election held on May 13.

According to the Election Commission, the results of 187 people’s representatives are yet to come.

The Commission had held elections simultaneously at all 753 local levels of the country.

Elections were held for a total of 35,221 people’s representatives including mayors, deputy mayors, chiefs, deputy chiefs, ward chairpersons, women members, Dalit women members and open members.

Nepal’s foreign policy imbalanced and influenced by coalition’s interest: UML Chair Oli

CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has lashed out at the Nepal government saying that its foreign policy is imbalanced and influenced by the vested interest of the coalition parties.

Passing comments on the policies and programs in the Parliament UML Chairman Oli said, “The government has made our foreign policy unbalanced, impulsive, and influenced by the interest of the coalition government.”

Supreme Court orders govt not to build international airport in Nijgadh

The Supreme Court has ordered the government not to build an international airport at Nijgadh in Bara.

A full bench of Justices Harikrishna Karki, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Manoj Kumar Sharma on Thursday gave the order not to build an airport in Nijgadh.

Hearing the writ petition filed by senior advocate Prakash Mani Sharma and others, the Supreme Court directed the government to find a suitable alternative in accordance with the law and legal norms if an international airport is to be built, said Supreme Court Spokesperson Bimal Poudel.

Government’s policies and programs doesn’t address problems: UML Chair Oli

Leader of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives (HoR), KP Sharma Oli has said the government’s policies and programs for the fiscal year 2022/23 have not addressed any pertinent topic.

Taking part in the deliberations on the Policies and Programs of the Government that started on Thursday in the HoR, he alleged that the policy and program document failed to address any problem facing the country.

Lawmakers urge government to give alternative to petroleum products

Lawmakers have suggested the government to give alternative to petroleum products and traditional skill during the discussion held on government’s policies and programs for coming fiscal year 2022/23 in Thursday’s meeting of the National Assembly.

They asked the government to pay its attention on different issues, including to provide chemical fertilizer on time, to establish fertilizer factory in the country, to pay attention on national pride projects, to resolve problems of landless squatters, to pay attention on providing quality education.

Minister Ale requests EU Ambassador to remove ban on Nepal from EU’s safety list

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale, has requested European Ambassador to Nepal, Nona Deprez, to lift ban on Nepal from EU’s safety list.

A discussion was held on it between Minister Ale and Ambassador Deprez at the ministry on Thursday, according to Minister’s personal secretary, Manoj Adhikari.

Minister Ale reminded the EU Ambassador that Nepal’s aviation sector was safe now. He further said Nepal’s score was 70.1 percent on implementation of safety on eight categories set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which Minister Ale argued, was above the average.
