Out of 753 local levels, EC declares result of 740 levels

NC: wins in 322, UML: 203, Maoist Center: 121



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has completed the vote counting May 13 election of 740 local levels so far. There are 753 local levels in the country.

According to EC sources, Nepali Congress (NC) has won the highest number of local levels in this election. Out of 740 local levels which finished vote counting, NC has won the top leadership of 322 local levels.

Similarly, after the NC, the CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Nepal, CPN-Unified Socialist and Democratic Socialist Party (LOSPA) have got a remarkable presence in local level leadership.

Following NC in the number of UML has got 203 Maoist Center 121, JSP 30, Unified Socialist 19 and LSP 16 candidates elected to the mayoral or chairperson’s post in the May 13 local level election.

Nineteen independent candidates from other parties have also been elected as the mayor, or chairperson of the municipality.

According to the commission, the counting of votes is underway in seven municipalities. NC is leading in five levels, the UML in one, and an independent candidate in one so far.

Voting is yet to take place in one of the centers of the two municipalities.
