JSP’s Rajeshman Singh leading with double votes in Birgunj Metropolis



PARSA: As many as 50,043 votes have been counted in Birgunj Metropolitan City as of Saturday morning.

Rajeshman Singh, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) candidate from the coalition, who has been leading the outgoing mayor Bijay Kumar Sarawgi by double votes since the beginning, has got 26,058 votes.

Sarawgi, who had been elected as mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City representing the JSP in the local level elections of 2074 BS, has got 13,508 votes. He had joined the CPN-UML only last March. After that, UML fielded him as the mayoral candidate in this election.

Similarly, Girish Giri of RPP has secured 1,629 votes.

NC candidate Imtiaz Alam for the post of deputy mayor got 18,046 votes, LSP’s Purushottam Lal Jha got 4,000 votes and RPP’s Bina Jaiswal got 2,940 votes.

So far, the counting of votes in 17 wards of the metropolis has been completed.
