DIG duo Lama and Poudel promoted to AIG

KATHMNDU: Deputy Inspector Generals of Nepal Police Basant Kumar Lama and Narayan Dutta Poudel of the Armed Police Force (APF) have been promoted to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG).

Home Minister Bal Krishna informed that the cabinet meeting held in Baluwatar this morning decided to promote them as per the recommendation of the promotion committee.

On May 6, the promotion committee had recommended DIG Lama for promotion to the post of AIG. Even though there are five AIG posts lying vacant in the police, the government has promoted only Lama.

Lama is retiring on May 22 due to the age limit of 56 years.

On May 4, the promotion committee headed by Home Ministry Secretary Teknarayan Pandey had recommended DIG Poudel for promotion.

The recommendation has been endorsed by the Council of Ministers.

Although there are two posts of AIG lying vacant in the APF, the committee had only recommended Poudel.

Along with Poudel, CP Gautam, Banshi Raj Dahal and Kishor Pradhan were in the fray for the promotion of AIG.

After being promoted to AIG, Poudel will become IGP for about two years once the tenure of the incumbent IGP  Raju Aryal ends.
