RPP wins mayor, NC deputy mayor in Kathmandu’s Shankharapur



KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Ramesh Napit emerged victorious as the mayor of Shankharapur municipality with 4,700 votes.

His close contender Laxmi Prasad (LP) Shrestha of CPN (Unified Socialist) got 4,202 votes, informed municipal election officer Sita Niraula.

Krishnalal Bajgain of CPN-UML received 3,622 votes while Madhu KC Niraj of CPN (Maoist Centre) got 2,222 in the mayoral race.

Janata Samajwadi Party obtained only 92 votes in the race.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate for deputy mayor Samita Shrestha won the election securing 6,362 votes.

His close contender Bijaya Kumari Waiba of RPP got 3,298 votes. NC and Samajwadi had teamed up in Shankharapur.
