Pre-budget discussions to start on May 18



KATHMANDU: The date for discussions on principles and priorities of appropriation bill (except for tax proposition) is scheduled for May 18 and 19.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), Finance Minister Janardan Sharma tabled a motion seeking parliamentary discussions on principles and priorities of appropriation bill (except for tax proposition) for the fiscal year 2079/080 BS.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota slated the date for May 18 and 19 for the discussions as proposed by Minister Sharma.

Today’s meeting of the HoR passed a condolence motion tabled in demise of former MP Bishnuraj Acharya of Nepali Congress who was elected the MP from Kapilvastu district in the parliamentary elections in 2048 BS and 2051 BS.

The House of Representatives will meet again at 1:00 pm tomorrow. Meanwhile, pre-budget discussions have been fixed for May 19 in the National Assembly.

In today’s meeting of the National Assembly, Finance Minister Sharma tabled a motion seeking parliamentary discussions on principles and priorities of appropriation bill (except for tax proposition) for the fiscal year 2079/080 BS.

Tabling the motion, Minister Sharma said the Appropriation Bill, 2079 BS is aimed at building a socialism-oriented, balanced, inclusive and self-reliant economy. National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina summoned the next meeting of the NA at 1:00 pm on May 19 for holding discussions on the Appropriation Bill. (RSS)
