Independent mayoral candidate Balen Shah maintaining lead in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Independent candidate Balen Shah has maintained the lead in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) mayor.

According to the results obtained a while ago, he is in the forefront with 8,037 votes.

Likewise, mayoral candidate CPN-UML’s Keshav Sthapit has got half the vote of Shah at 4,259 and Nepali Congress’s Sirjana Singh has garnered 3,703 votes so far.

Similarly, in the deputy mayoral race, CPN-UML’s Sunita Dangol is leading with 6,557 votes, CPN (Unified Socialist)’s Rameshwor Shrestha is in the second position with 1,855 votes.

Vote counting of KMC ward no 3,4,5,6, 31 and 32 is being conducted in the City Hall at Exhibition Road.

The result of ward no 1 and 2 has been already made public according to which CPN (UML)’s Bharat Lal Shrestha won in ward no 1 and Rajendra Kumar Shrestha from the same party emerged victorious in ward no 2.

A total of 18,808 votes have been counted in KMC so far.
