Buddha Jayanti and India’s PM Modi in Lumbini (in pics)



LUMBINI: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha on Monday morning.

PM Modi also laid the foundation for the construction of a unique centre for Buddhist Culture and Heritage within the Lumbini Monastic Zone.

Modi, who visited Lumbini on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, offered prayers at Mahamayadevi Temple with his Nepalese counterpart Deuba.

After landing in Lumbini, PM Modi tweeted, “Happy to be among the wonderful people of Nepal on the special occasion of Buddha Purnima. Looking forward to the programmes in Lumbini.”
