One injured as firing goes in Dhanusha



JANAKPUR: Tension has flared up at the polling station in the Dhanauji rural municipality of Dhanusha.

There has been controversy over the fact that more votes were found in the ballot box than cast.

Such a dispute was seen during the counting of votes at Lakhauri of Dhanauji rural municipality-1 which caused tension in the polling station.

Local Kasim Azad was injured when police fired plastic bullets and tear gas at him. Raj Kumar Yadav, a leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), said that Kasim was shot in the left leg.

According to Dhanusha Police Spokesperson DSP Pradip Bahadur Chhetri, some tear gas shells and 25 rounds of shots were fired in the air. According to him, a policeman also sustained injuries in the incident.

Meanwhile, CPN (Maoist Center) has staged a sit-in at the polling station demanding re-election alleging rigging in the polls.

The clash erupted after 15 more ballot papers were found in ward 1 and four more votes in ward 2 in Dhanauji.
Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been deployed at the polling station.
