Ballot boxes picked up from Katari’s Sorung after seven point agreement with victim’s family

UDAYPUR: Ballot boxes have been picked up from the polling center of Kalika Higher Secondary School at Katari-7, Sorung Chhavise Udayapur today.

A 19-year-old local youth, Bir Bahadur Katuwal alias Navin, had died in police firing that took place over a minor dispute relating to picking up the ballot boxes on Friday.

Ballot boxes are being brought to Katari from the Kalika Secondary School polling center  after a seven-point agreement was reached with the family of the youth who was shot dead by the police.

The locals had interrupted the administration from taking the ballot boxes unless their demands relating to the firing victim’s family were met.

The locals did not allow the ballot boxes to be brought to the office of the Election Officer in Katari Municipality demanding that the deceased should be declared a martyr, family members should be given proper compensation, a memorial should be built in the name of the deceased and employment should be provided to one of the family members.
