On killed in clash between NC and Maoist Center cadres in Solukhumbu



SOLUKHUMBU: A person has been killed in a clash in Sotang rural municipality of Solukhumbu district during a dispute over taking voters home.

One person has been killed in a clash between Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) cadres in Ward No. 3 after an ailing old woman came to cast her vote.

Sudip Rai, 35, who was injured in the incident on Friday evening, died while undergoing treatment at Phaplu Hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Jung Shah.

Rai was seriously injured in the head by a stone pelted by a NC cadre. NC cadres have also been injured in the clash.

According to the District Police Office, the police have arrested three persons involved in the incident and started investigation.

The old woman was brought to cast her vote. But after the voting, the dispute between the two groups escalated after NC cadres accused them of neglecting to take the elderly home. The old woman, who was suffering from asthma, passed away on Friday evening.
