Centenarian Joshi does not cast ballot in local election

KATHMANDU: Satya Mohan Joshi, who is celebrating his 103rd birthday today, refrained from voting in Friday’s local level election owing to his ailing health.

The resident of Patan, Lalitpur, who needs oxygen support from time to time, according to his second eldest son Hemanta Joshi, faced difficulty in reaching polling station due to his frail health.

The centenarian cultural expert’s health has been frail following the infection of pneumonia last winter. Joshi has been suffering respiratory-related problems for some days, shared Hemanta, adding that given the bad health condition of his father, he could not take him to the polling station.

Meanwhile, Joshi, who turned 103 years old today, will be observing his birthday with the family members, according to Hemanta.
