Volunteer injured in Gorkha firing



KATHMANDU: An election volunteer has been injured when the Police opened firing at Bhimsen Thapa-2, Tarakhase polling center in Gorkha on Friday afternoon.

According to Gorkha police sources, the police took to firing when two rivalling groups belonging to Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-Maoist Center rushed towards the place the ballot boxes were kept.

“The Maoist Center and NC cadres started assaulting each other at the site the ballots were kept, the police had to open firing to take the situation under control,” SP Kedar Khanal said.

He informed that Manisha Thapa, a volunteer at the polling center was injured in the incident.

Thapa sustained the injury in the thigh.
